ML320 Base Model Interior Images

Mercedes has been very tight with visuals of the base model M-Class in the USA. Hopefully the images here will help anyone interested in what the base model interior looks like. (note: you may or may not be able to accept the pattern Mercedes choose, even if you like cloth seating surfaces)

Basically because it offered greater value to us than a ML320 with the M1 package!

  99 ML320 M1 package:

•   leather trimmed seats (note the areas of cloth in the images above).

•   privacy glass (very dark)

•   self dimming mirror (needed more w/o privacy glass)

•   wood (real and simulated) trim

•   heated seats (cloth is never so cold as leather!)

•   8-way power front seats (clearly superior to the manual seats!)

•   leather steering wheel and shift knob

•   lock box/drawer under passengers seat

  What we wanted in our M-Class:

  To be as comfortable using our "Mercedes" everyday and in everyway, as we had become with the Dodge Caravan it was to replace.

Thus:

•   cloth seats are better! (cooler, less sliding, non-stick, less marable)(but are they as durable?)
•   leather seats and wood trim made it feel too dressed up for its intended role
•   privacy glass would be nice, but we chose a lighter tint applied later (needed w/ M7)
•   the same OEM offers an after market selfdimming mirror
•   lock box/drawer was easy to acquire and install under manual seats
•   Other ML owners with leather steering wheels may upgrade to wood, good leather steering wheel cover kits are also available
•   the 8-way power seats (even better w/ memory) are not part of the deal :-(

A note on the power and heated seats, our base model M-class appears to have all of the wiring for both!
