Meet the KRAMERs

The first KRAMER in my line to arrive was Johann Georg KRAMER of Karlsbrunn, Germany. Johann was married to Wilhelmina Ermina Louisa HOLLENBERGER in 1770. They arrived to Philadelphia in 1773 on the Brittania and first settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Johann Georg and other KRAMERs worked briefly for "Baron" Heinrich Wilhelm STIEGEL at his glassworks in Manheim before moving onto Frederick County, Maryland. Johann Georg and company started a small glasshouse just south of Frederick. This glasshouse was eventually purchased by John Frederick AMELUNG. After having sold their glassworks, the KRAMERs continued to work at the glasshouse for AMELUNG, until his eventual financial demise. At this time, the KRAMERs set off to Kentucky to open yet another glasshouse. Enroute, they met Albert GALLATIN who encouraged them to move to New Geneva, Fayette County, PA. Eventually the glasshouse moved across the river to Greensboro, Greene County, PA.

Other related families include; MINOR, NILAN, THOMPSON, DOWNER, KEENING, all of Fayette, Greene and/or Allegheny counties of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

I would like to exchange information with others researching any of the above families.
